Abstract

Polyfunctionality of lexical units is one of the delicate problems in modern linguistics. The issue of polyfunctional words is very common in world linguistics. But scientists interpret polyfunctionality as a different phenomenon. Some scientists considered this phenomenon as homonymy, while others recognized that polyfunctionality is the breaking of the chain between words with multiple meanings or word forms that perform different functions. This article presents thoughts and opinions about the study of polyfunctional words and how it is covered in the literature
