Abstract

The objective of thisresearchis to analyze the climatic conditions and the upsurge in water-borne diseases in the commune of Natitingou. For data collection, qualitative researchmethods and techniques wereused. The production of data wasbased on a sample of threehundred and twelve (312) respondents, made up of women, heads of households, young people, managers of regional water services, agents of the General Directorate of Water. (DG-Eau), agents of the National Water Company of Benin (SONEB), healthworkers and religious leaders. Theseactorsselected on the basis of reasoned and simple randomchoice sampling took part in structured interviews. This research has shownthat water-borne diseases are the mostrecurrent in the commune of Natitingou. Thesediseases are attributable to changes in the environment, poorhygiene and sanitation conditions and the behavior of populations. This situation ischaracterized by the lack of installation of sanitationfacilities, the consumption of unsanitary water and exposure to organicpollutants. As for water-borne diseases, they are due to the consumption of poorqualitywater;however, all people, whatevertheir living conditions or theirresources, have the right to drink safe water
