Abstract

Study uses the sociolinguistic approach to analyze forbidden terms. The purpose of this study is to establish the types and functions of prohibited terms. Descriptive definition was used as an approach in this study. The findings of this inquiry are Four forbidden word forms appear: obscene, profane, common-lawed, and nickname. The most cases happened during obscenity. Obscenity to show the recipient's disrespect. Darkness is used to decrease others' pride. The minimum number of word forms forbidden is an adjective. The epithet becomes the least because a surname will potentially injure other people's pride. Use a nick to call someone's name with a particular forbidden term. Secondly, four functions of banned words exist: scorn, selfattention, provocation and ridicule of authority. Merely disregarding and latter mocking authority is the most obvious feature. Words that are forbidden are used to demonstrate contempt towards others. We will list and mention the forms of words banned. and their usage in everyday life
