Abstract

The conveyance of emotions in poetry varies from poet to poet. This variation is influenced by the literary devices used by the poets in their works. Some poets frequently employ these devices in their poems, while others use them less often. Kara Vahap is among the poets who frequently incorporate literary devices into his poetry. Renowned in Iraqi Turkish literature for his poetry, Kara Vahap serves as a witness to the era in which he lived through his poetic identity. He compiled his poetry collections, published in different years, into two volumes titled My Poetry Works Volume 1 and My Poetry Works Volume 2. The poet skillfully employs words in his poems to evoke the lived experiences, with his mastery and simplicity of language standing out. In this context, an examination of Kara Vahap's works in terms of language and narrative elements is possible, as he composed his works in Turkish language. It can be observed that the poet naturally employs almost every literary device in his poems, and these devices are integrated into the flowing verses without distorting their meaning. This study is prepared with examples from Kara Vahap's works, along with the concepts related to literary devices such as words, meaning, and metaphor, which constitute his poetry.
