THE ROLE OF EDUCATORS IN FOSTERING STUDENTS' TOLERANT BEHAVIOR AT PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL IN BOLAANG MONGONDOW REGENCY

Teachers and students are very important determining factor in education. Because they play an important role in the learning process. Where the learning process is a main part of the whole education process which aims to change student’s behavior. This research aims to elaborate the Teacher’ role in build the student’s tolerant behavior at Public High school in Bolaang Mongondow regency. This research was conducted at seven Public high school, they are SMA Negeri 1 Bolaang, SMA Negeri 1 Poigar, SMA Negeri 1 Dumoga, SMA Negeri 2 Dumoga, SMA Negeri 1 Lolak, SMA Negeri 1 Sangtombolang, dan SMA Negeri 1 Passi. It has 158 teachers, and consist of 104 Muslim Teachers, 42 Christian Teachers, and 12 Hindu teachers. And there are 2670 stundents it consist of 1661 Muslim, 999 Christian, and 10 Hindu. This research used Socio - Islamic Education Approach and Education Psycology Approach. The resercher found three dominant roles by teachers in order to build students tolerant behavior. First teacher as a role model, we can see it in the teacher ability to provide a good example in attitude, how the teacher perfomed a good words to student and also behavior that oriented to tolerance. Second the teacher’s role as a facilitator, can be seen in teacher’s ability to interact, to communicate, and have a good understanding of student’s difference ethnics. Religions, cultures, and languages. Third the teacher roles as a motivator can be seen in a support to student’s activity such as, religion activities, social services, scouth, PMR. So the students feel exited and participate in school activities in order to build social relation and tolerance behavior among all the students at Public high school in Bolaang Mongondow.
