THE ROLE OF WORD FORMATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF VOCABULARY

Abstract

The article examines the importance of word formation as the main mechanism for the development of the lexical system of a language. Productive methods of word formation, their role in the formation of new words and the renewal of vocabulary are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the relationship between word formation and social, cultural and technological changes. The article emphasizes the importance of derivational processes in reflecting linguistic dynamics and in expanding the expressive possibilities of the Russian language.
