Abstract

The role of the military institution is the most prominent phenomenon in political life in Turkey, and the growth or shrinkage of this role is considered the feature that dominated the political scene in Turkey, as one of the main tasks of the military institution was to protect Ataturk's governing principles as an essential part of the characteristics of the Turkish state in terms of focusing on two criteria: preserving secularism, and exploiting the unity of the Turkish state, as the Turkish military institution played a prominent role in political life since the Justice and Development Party came to power in 2002, as the military institution in Turkey was considered one of the strongest and most organized state institutions in Turkey, if not by virtue of a higher authority that lies above the constitution and other state institutions
