ISSUES OF IRAQI DISPLACED PERSONS IN IRAQI VISUAL MEDIA "AL-IRAQIYA CHANNEL AS A MODEL"

Abstract

The study aimed to identify how the issues of displaced Iraqis are addressed in the Iraqi visual media by knowing the topics covered by Al-Iraqiya channel in its treatment of the issues of displaced Iraqis, and identifying the formal techniques used. To achieve its objectives and answer the research questions, the study adopted the qualitative approach and the content analysis tool for a purposive sample of 20. news during the period from November 2, 2022 to October 12, 2023. The study concluded that Al-Iraqiya Channel relied on presenting the issue of the displaced through a large number of topics, such as the return of the displaced in Salah al-Din to their homes, the resolution of tribal disputes, and the reconstruction of damaged areas. During the war, and with regard to the formal techniques used by the Al-Iraqiya channel in its treatment of the issues of displaced Iraqis, elements of display emerged in terms of language, images, videos, and methods of expression. The study recommended the necessity of channels employing extensive methods of proof and persuasion to add importance and attract attention to topics and issues related to society and its groups.
