Abstract

There are several sustainability-related educational goals that might benefit greatly from being disseminated online. For instance, students from a wider range of socioeconomic backgrounds may now take part in educational programs. Online learning platforms also have a far lower carbon intensity compared to traditional classroom settings. Beyond these benefits, though, it's critical to identify what aspects of online education students find most beneficial. This article presents a brief overview of recent study conducted by the authors on students' self-evaluation of their learning at a prestigious online school and compares the findings to widespread pedagogical ideas about the benefits of distant education. The purpose is to highlight the issues that students feel need to be highlighted for distant learning to be successful. The next stage is to identify the elements of online delivery that have shown to be beneficial and to create linkages between those elements and the long-term viability of different forms of education delivery
